Artist Statement – Christina Bardram

Christina Bardram’s works draw on a wide range of cultural, botanical and mediative references. In the works, silence and concentration are combined with a strong lyrical tone. The works start where language ends, we see not an intellectual concept, but a sensory sensation. Impressions are taken from the shadows of a sycamore tree and from botanical studies on previous works. The expression is minimal and open – nothing is superfluous – allowing the viewer’s dreams to unfold

The process is highly intuitive and in dialogue with the works and materials Bardram abstracts her personal experiences and explores the phenomenology of color, form and surface – like an alchemist, she investigates and experiments with new materials.

The colors and materials are contrasted between linear / painterly, opaque / transparent, flat / spatial, glossy / matte

The works stand outside of time as they refer to both past and future
