Cesariny – Lusofonias – Surrealismo

Davis Gallery is very proud to present in collaboration with
Perve Galleria (PT) and the Embassy of Portugal to Denmark the group show
Cesariny – Lusofonias – Surrealism
Opening Friday 27. October 4 – 7 pm

Explore a parallel unknown world… existing through centuries of Portuguese seafarers traveling far and wide and known as Lusofonias – countries with Portuguese as their main language. Today independent states, Brazil, Mozambique, Angola, Senegal, Cape Verde, San Tomé et Principé. Connected through language and culture, one of the links is the art created by Mario Cesariny, who with his surrealist art and poetry was a significant influence in Portugal before the mid-70s and through the transition to democracy. A person who shaped the times with his critical and sharp opinions. Now, 100 years after his birth, we can see the influence he has had in Africa and South America. Here is a unique opportunity to look beyond Western art history.

We are looking forward to seeing you
