Visual Artist
Artist Statement – Bent Hedeby
Bent Hedeby Sørensen is a versatile artist who works with various media including oil painting, performance, photography, and videography. At the center of Hedeby’s production is painting, which appears as a combination of photorealism and abstract painting. His paintings are characterized by a particular mood with undertones of melancholy, which manages to capture a wondrous presence.
Elements from important discussions about sustainability, identity issues, and current politics weave their way into his works in a remarkable way, and his education at Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi has given him inspiration from the oriental world’s arabesques.
