The public is eager to understand and follow Jens Chr. Jensen’s line of thought. Although it is his hope that viewers encounter the sculpture within their own existence, he has come to realize that the human mind functions in such a way that identifying a starting point and an original function can be challenging. Instead, he prefers to share the sense of enthusiasm and experience…

He finds and reuses objects that once served a different purpose. In particular, he is an avid collector of industrial elements that time has overtaken and which now appear with patina and have become redundant. Not so in Jens Chr. Jensen’s view, as the materials tell a story of cultural and industrial history.

In the hands of Jens Chr. Jensen, these elements are reassembled and transformed into a new aesthetic. He works with rhythm and the cadence of repetition; simple basic forms—whether circles or squares—emerge on the artist’s own terms. The patina and wear of the elements are fully exploited, as subtle plays of color and reflections form new constellations. DET VAR is an exhibition that stimulates the imagination and reveals beauty through a simple, disciplined aesthetic.
